New Zealander Glenn Martin recently joined Nine Racing, Inc. as chief mechanic and brings to the team a great background of technical engineering experience as well as hands-on racing mechanical experience.
Glenn began working on TQ midgets and sprint cars when he was just 10 years old. He raced midgets and winged sprint cars in New Zealand for 15 years. During this time, he also earned a mechanical engineering degree at Fairview Motors Hamilton New Zealand.
He came to the USA in 2001, and has worked as a crew chief for the last seven years with a good number of high profile USAC drivers that include: Dave Darland, Ricky Shelton, J.J. Yeley, Cory Kruseman, Tracy Hines, Jay Drake, A.J. and Aaron Fike, Ricky Stenhouse, Josh Wise, Chad Boat, Michael Pickens, and Darren Hagen. In 2007, Glenn and Darren Hagen worked as a two-man team to capture second in the USAC National Midget Series point standings.
Glenn's responsibilities at Nine Racing, Inc. will be to prepare the dirt and pavement midgets along with the pavement Ford Focus midget for our driver development programs.
